Natural Gas Equipment

Infrared Catalytic Heating

Catalytic heaters produce a uniform, low intensity heat with most of the heat generated as radiant infrared energy. The maximum operating temperature is relatively low (near 850º F), which is well below the ignition temperature for natural gas. The process is considered flameless.

The energy is in long wavelength form, which is readily absorbed by a wide range of materials. Since the material absorbs the heat, there is no energy wasted heating the surrounding air. These features make catalytic heating one of the most energy efficient forms of radiation heat transfer in the electromagnetic spectrum.
