John Madziarczyk receives MBEIC award

On April 2, 2007, John Madziarczyk, General Manager Procurement, received the "Outstanding Buying/Contracting Executive Award" from the Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC) of the Chicago Minority Business Development Council (CMBDC). He received the award as part of a ceremony that marked the beginning of the council's 40th Annual Chicago Business Opportunity Fair (CBOF).

The award recognizes executives who have strengthened minority firms through their commitment to minority purchasing/contracting (particularly goods/services, professional services and construction. One of those minority firms is Inter-City Supply, Inc., owned by Jackie Dyess who is also the Chairperson of the MBEIC. Of John and the other awards winners, she said, "Their passion and efforts on behalf of diverse suppliers are nothing short of heroic. These awards are symbolic of that."

Also among the awards recipients was Tyrone Brown, President of Information Systems Consultants, Inc. (ISCI). Brown received an award for "Minority Supplier of the Year." This award was presented in recognition of certified minority-owned businesses that have demonstrated sound business management and growth. Among their clients is Nicor Gas.

"We are very proud of John as representative of Nicor Gas, and of Tyrone as one of our valued minority suppliers," said Dave Thomas, Sr. Supplier Diversity Administrator. "John's efforts and business relationships with quality minority businesses like ISCI are exactly what our Supplier Diversity Program is all about."
