Builder First provides personalized service to builders If you're a builder, Nicor Gas has a service that's been designed with you in mind. Builder First provides you with a contact person who will work with you from start to finish. Your Builder First representative can handle your service orders, check the status of your installation, order meter sets, and update you on the latest scheduling. Plus, we will put you in touch with a Nicor Gas representative who can answer your questions about main installations, and commercial and industrial meter sets.

Builder Checklist for Gas Service Installation
Here's what we will need to quickly process your request:

• Fill out your single meter service request online or download a faxable form (PDF).
• Apply for gas service at the same time you apply for your building permit.
• Keep an eight-foot path for the proposed service clear of building materials.
• Services that exceed 60 feet from the front property line will be billed an excess footage charge. 
• Mark any underground utilities not included in the JULIE location.
• If multiple meters are required, identify and label fuel lines according to unit numbers.
• Services for homes that were demolished and rebuilt will be billed a reconnection fee.
